Salmon Fishing: Guided Fishing

Casting on the GaulaThe salmon fishing beats are supported by two fishing guides, Inga and Jonas – they have more than sixty years fishing experience on Gaula between them – whom provide light guiding. Additionally, Winsnes has its own team of guides who accompany guests on a daily basis for an additional guiding fee.

Full-time guiding is available to those who want it and from 2008 onwards we also insist that first-time clients take a fully-guided package.

Gaula is a big, powerful river and offers many challenges for the newcomer.

Despite the fact that a guide can never guarantee salmon, the chances of catching fish are dramatically improved if you work with one. Guests can share the guide between two rods. The guide’s job is to advise clients about the best lies, best fishing areas in each of the ten pools and to provide assistance in selecting lines and flies. Casting tuition is also available.
